Hi, I am a behavioral specialist who has been fortunate to have excellent training from The Lovaas Institue in South Orange, NJ. After I left the agency, I have worked with many families working toward goals in the home, school, and natural environment (extracurricular activities, playdates, social skills, and outings). I utilize the principles of Applied Behavior Analysis to work on basic and abstract language skills, including reading and writing as well as play and social skills/coping skills and executive functions to be generalized to a school environment. I have worked with children 18 months to 15 years old. In this time, I have had many children start with 1:1 therapy (not necessarily discrete trial) and parent training (extremely important to the consistency of the program) with very good results leading to school placements in a typical setting with shadow with the support of a home program to work on language, academic, social, and behavioral skills that are quickly translated into the natural environment. I enjoy working with families and seeing the day to day changes in the children and their families that I work with. There is no better feeling than seeing a child having all the skills needed to have a positive learning experience in school, in all areas, so that he or she can become independent in learning on his or her own and having the motivation to do so.

I have also worked with siblings of children with autism as it is often difficult for those siblings to understand or know how to interact with their brother or sister with autism. Currently, I am working part time, but would be interested in discussing any possibilies as I have hours available. I am available in the following capacities: therapist training, home program coordination, instructor, family training, nanny training, natural environment teaching, food desensitization, behavioral treatments. All work is data based so you can see the evidence that techniques based on ABA actually decrease undesirable behaviors and increase desirable behavior including language and socialization and an overall motivation to learn in all environments. When these children learn to learn from their enviornment, and behaviors are reduced and replaced with appropriate alternatives, sucesss becomes exponential.

I have fifteen years of experience as a creative therapist, developing many different behavioral interventions, who treats every child as an individual and tailor to that individuals' needs and can provide letters of reference from families I have worked with in the past. I would also be willing to do short term work (2-5 day training for the family/nanny, programming, ABLLS testing, therapist training, school observations and recommendations if the district is willing, or any other needs that may need to be met). I am a special education paraprofessional with 10 years ABA experience. My day consists of working 1:1 with children with autism spectrum disorders.
