We provide a variety of programs and services that ensure the successful growth and development of children and adults with special needs. We support them to reach their full potential and work with them to grow and develop in independence, advocacy and self confidence.

Making Small Talk started off as York Autism Centre with Linda Hurren running Social Skills classes and providing some private IBI services in King City in 2007. As her reputation grew in the community so did Making Small Talk. The company remained in King City for 5 years as it grew to include new services and new staff members. With the business growing it was time for a move to a bigger location, so in the fall of 2013 Making Small Talk relocated to Vandorf. This new location offered Making Small Talk a larger space  to expand and add new programs. With all of our supportive families following along ,the new building became home. Making Small Talk was able to launch many new programs such as Square Peg Project and the School Readiness Program. Making Small Talk now offers services for Children, Young Adults and Families throughout York Region.

Connecting Dots exists to connect the gap between the community and the families that live with disabilities. We take a unique and compassionate approach to educate others on the importance of community outreach and understanding those around you.

Our main mission is to demonstrate to our surrounding communities and families that living with any sort of disability is simply part of the individual, not their entire being. Through personalized and focused goal setting processes, our clients develop the tools they need to integrate in the community – this may be for our clients that are having difficulties in school and need strategies put in place to help them succeed, or our adult clients looking to make a lasting impression on their peers.

We understand each child with autism is unique and special in their own way. Every child with autism has specific learning barriers that most mainstream educational facilities don’t understand. We help each child overcome these barriers to ensure academic success.

We also understand that while every child may have their learning barriers, they also have amazing strengths. We encourage those strengths and teach our children to be proud of themselves and what they can accomplish.

Autism In Mind Children’s Charity (AIM) was founded in 2011 by Suki Choi who wanted to give children with autism an equal opportunity in life.

It started with just one child. When Suki first started her daycare business in Markham, she was approached by a family whose son had been on the government waitlist for autism therapy for 4 years. Moved by their situation, Suki organized a fundraiser. The response from the community and the daycare parents was so generous, Suki knew they could do even more.

Suki and a team of volunteers began fundraising on behalf of other local families, to help their children access professional therapy. They also began organizing free Social Saturdays for children with autism.

The momentum of these small acts of kindness gathered. Within just a few years, AIM became a Canadian registered charity and one of Markham’s leading service providers for children with autism.

● ENCOURAGEMENT, ACCEPTANCE and PRAISE are the absolutely necessary ingredients of our teaching methodology. We don’t force child to learn; however, on the basis of his/her most powerful reinforcers, encourage completing level-appropriate tasks. We also believe that each and every child deserves to be praised even for a very small step in the right direction.
● STRESS-FREE environment – we are strongly convinced that stress is the enemy of a successful learning. Thus, we created a truly friendly, controlled, multitasking environment where any child feels comfortable and most welcome.
● LEARNING-ENRICHED – our students use every minute of their time at “I AM SMART S-COOL!” for learning and development due to our highly structured and creative routine. In our learning-enriched, stress-free and friendly environment,

children demonstrate their talents exceptionally well! We pride ourselves in being able to provide excellent references as well as the great results of our work. You are very welcome to contact us for further details.
